British Cemetery (Sherpur Cantonment) Kabul, Afghanistan

The British Cemetery in Kabul is also known as the Sherpur Cantonment Cemetery after the area of Kabul that was under British Army occupation in the late 1870's during the Second Anglo-Afghan War. A number of graves of British soldiers can be found including that of John Cook VC, Captain, Bengal Staff Corps & 5th Gurkha Rifles, Indian Army.

The cemetery mostly contains gravestones of Kabul's European residents up to the 1970's as well as memorials to those fallen recently while in service of ISAF, the International Security Assistance Force.

The cemetery is looked after by Mr Rahimullah.
