A series of image galleries of Scottish graveyards. They are located mostly in south-east Scotland, the Lothians and the Borders.
The focus is on early gravestones up to the mid 19th century especially those rich in carvings and regarded as examples of Scottish folk art. Some later headstones may be included if I found them interesting. I've also included war memorials and war graves as they are a particular interest.
Included are a few pictures of the churches, general views of the churchyards interesting examples of stone weathering, lichens etc. Also do not be suprised if you see pictures of nesting birds or cows peering over the kirkyard wall, not to mention a bagpipe playing pig!
This is not a genealogy site - for this there are many other excellent sites, start at http://www.genuki.org.uk/
